Six days of outages for the first time in over 20 years

CBS News has confirmed that six days of major outages are set to occur over the next four days.

The outage occurred on the morning of Saturday, September 29, when an outage was triggered on an offshore wind farm in Northern Virginia.

That was the first such outage since a record-setting solar storm in November 2016, the largest solar event on record.

Six days after that, a storm brought the storm to the Northeast and a grid failure followed that.

The first day of the outages this week will bring another outages on Tuesday.

The outages have been particularly hard for customers in the Northeast, as the storm brought up to 1.3 feet of snow in some areas, and the storms has made it difficult for power to be restored to homes and businesses.
